Ann fell into free form dance at a 5Rhythms workshop in Asheville, North Carolina in November, 2008. She awoke to the dance in her body and a yearning for movement expression. In August 2009 she started Conscious Dance Charlottesville in Charlottesville, VA. Ann has been trained and is a 5Rhythms Teacher, and has studied in the SoulMotion Leadership Program. She is passionate about life, about love of self and other, and about honoring the gifts that come through each one of us. She works to welcome these gifts to flow through freely; the dance floor being a place of refuge, transformation, and release. Ann lives in Charlottesville, VA, where she teaches 5Rhythms and produces workshops to bring internationally renowned 5Rhythms teachers to the area. She became "home teacher" for the Bethesda MD 5Rhythms tribe in 2016. For more info, see Ann-Kite.com.
Sue parlayed her skills as a swing, salsa, and hustle dancer into working for Arthur Murray studios as a ballroom and Latin dance teacher. She witnessed her students learning much more than “steps” – dance was their life-changing therapeutic experience. After 7 years, Sue started her own business, making dance accessible to people with disabilities. Sue become certified in wheelchair ballroom dancing, specializing in teaching couples to dance again, after an injury. She also facilitated freestyle group movement classes for people with autism, dementia, and other cognitive issues. Sue started dancing 5Rhythms in 2008, and took over the production of 5Rhythms events in Bethesda in 2012, not just to keep the Tribe going, but to follow a new path in the practice of service through dance. “This is the best place to be -- the intersection of dance, healing, and community.
